Dungeonball

Dungeonball (board game)
Status: Still nailing down mechanics. Artwork and design to follow.

A board game that turns dungeon-crawling into a spectator sport. Create a team of Heroes or Monsters and fight your way through the biggest Dungeonball match of the season! March your units around a customizable board, taking careful note of your units' positioning, the surrounding terrain, and the statistical strengths and weaknesses of the enemies in your path. To win the match, you'll need to take control of the Dungeonball and toss it into the opposing team's Portal.

Each team uses its own mechanics to get the job done--the Heroes are fewer in number, but stronger individually, while the Monsters find strength in their countless numbers. Both teams can use magical crystals to power up, but each side uses them differently--the Heroes can equip and trade them to customize themselves even further, while the Monsters can spend them to summon even more of their fiendish friends.

What sporting event would be complete without a crowd to cheer for their favorite teams? Use the cheer tracker to earn cheer points for doing cool things, like taking down an enemy Boss or scoring a critical hit. Trade them in later for special favors from the crowd. Low on energy? The crowd can cheer for you and restore some. Need an extra defense boost? The crowd just might start up a defensive chant for you!

The final version of the game will also include rules for campaign-style play, allowing you to take your team through an entire Dungeonball season. Fight your way through the playoffs, sign and trade players, deal with injuries, and make it to the championship game, where eternal glory awaits the winner. Will your team be strong enough to claim it?

  1. After you are done designing this game, why don't you try putting it on "Kickstarter"? That's a good way of receiving support and a fan base for the game.

Also, the website "boardgamegeek" would be good too (I think you have an account on it already though).

I'm planning to order Villages soon too, very excited to play it!

    1. Thank you very much! I am definitely planning on going to Kickstarter at some point, but I'm trying to get a little more game design experience under my belt first. I'll be sure to let everyone know what I decide to do when I figure it out!
